Full Job Description

The BD/Proposal Manager is responsible for aspects of generating new business with a focus on the identification, qualification, and capture of strategic opportunities. This individual is also responsible for managing and coordinating proposals end to end.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supports strategic business development, initiating marketing strategies
  • Identifies and develops new business leads
  • Conducts qualification and capture activities to ensure a successful bid
  • Creates and maintains pipeline of opportunities
  • Conducts marketing activities
  • Analyze new and upcoming opportunities for bid
  • Attends tradeshows
  • Attends industry association events (AFCEA, etc.)
  • Initiates customer meetings and sales calls, delivering presentations and information about the corporation and its capabilities
  • Develops and maintains relationships with customers and partners
  • Coordinates teaming for all new business opportunities
  • Works with senior managers to develop business in existing customer base
  • Provides and leads proposal coordination, management, writing and support as required
  • Manages IDIQ contract vehicles to ensure timely responses to task order requests
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong skills and experience building mutually beneficial relationships with customers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Motivated, innovative leader, able to drive others to reach consensus and collaboration
  • Experience and familiarity with business acquisition process “best practices” in a Federal environment
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Shipley training or similar proposal training is preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience, with an increasing level of responsibility
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Federal environment
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the roles of Proposal Writing, business development, sales, and/or marketing (or a combination thereof) in the Federal Government marketplace
